Reflecting Back on Travel Ambitions

The Facebook notifications I get on a daily basis from ‘On this day’ are both a curse and a blessing. It is a curse as it reminds me of how cringe worthy my post were when I was growing up, but a blessing as it does remind me of positive memories. Today Facebook reminded me that I had planned a ‘gap year’ with one of my friends 5 years ago when I was 15 and before travelling had become a major part of my life.

At the time of this post, I had no idea that seeing these places would become a reality or that how much exploring the world would be so significant to me in the future. Thinking back, the idea of travelling was at the back of my head but never at the forefront of my mind. Mainly because I was not old enough and I was a lot more focused on having a career. Although this gap year never happened, it is very interesting looking back where I had planned to go. Since that post, I have been able to visit four of the destinations: Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Greece. I also find it exciting as I have booked to visit a few of these destinations on the list later this year, so make sure to keep your eye out on my blog in a few months time to see which ones I end up at :). If myself 5 years ago could see how much I have travelled, I would like to think that she would be happy that I turned these thoughts into reality.
